Weston-super-Mare match report

On Wednesday six of us, Val, Rodney, Barry, Ian, Dave and Michael took the short journey to Weston-super-Mare to play in a "friendly" competition against the Weston-super-Mare Petanue Club. For some of us this was a first taste of playing in a proper petanque competition and on a proper full size terrain.

The match consisted of 2 triples and 3 pairs.

Rodney, Dave and Barry narrowly lost their triples but Val, Ian and Michael came out victorious in a very hard fought contest. So it was level going into the pairs. Michael and Val tried hard but were well beaten but the other two games were more tightly contested. Rodney and Dave won their game but Barry and Ian were narrowly beaten. Weston were, therefore, overall winners 3 games to two. For our first outing this was not a bad result.

After the match we enjoyed a picinic provided by our hosts.

Hopefully this will be the first of many similar events and we look forward to the day when we have our own terrain where we can entertain visitors.
